Zoom Expands Nightlife Portfolio With Insite Buy

Alloy Media + Marketing has sold its Insite nightlife ad network, including billboards in over 2,000 restaurants, bars and nightclubs, to Zoom Media and Marketing. With the acquisition, Zoom's bar and nightlife ad portfolio now includes 4,000-plus venues with more than 20,000 signage installations. It's all part of its "Social Network" of venues, which attracts 45 million patrons a month.

The terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

The Zoom network currently includes over 300 digital billboard venues, and the company plans to boost that to 500 by the end of the second quarter--including installations in its newly acquired Insite venues. It also has 1,000 venues reaching Hispanic and African-American consumers.

For its part, Alloy retains a substantial bar and nightlife advertising capability, with 2,000 venues in 50 top markets. The company is moving ahead with its rollout of interactive, event and promotional marketing services in these venues. More broadly, it will also continue developing out-of-home networks in other areas frequented by young people, including campuses, health clubs, cinema, laundry facilities, barbershops and hair salons.

In September, for example, Alloy struck a deal with the Black Owned Beauty Supply Association that opens up potential relationships with all 1,700 of its members. At launch, the network includes 400 barbershops and hair salons in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Alloy plans to double this number by the end of 2008.
