Univision Signs Carriage Deal With DirecTV

Univision's Nuestra Belleza LatinaUnivision is on a roll, announcing a multiyear carriage agreement with DirecTV. The agreement includes the carriage of Univision's owned-and-operated broadcast stations, distribution of its cable network Galavision and the network feeds for Univision and TeleFutura.

Univision signed a multiyear carriage deal with Comcast in January.

No financial details of the DirecTV alliance were disclosed, but Joe Uva, CEO for Univision, said: "The partnership with DirecTV speaks to the growing influence of the Hispanic consumer in the nation. Our distributors understand that a partnership with Univision is an investment in sustained growth."

In certain markets, affiliated stations with Entravision, Equity Media Holdings and Fisher Communications will also carry Univision inventory.

Univision runs popular novelas in prime time, as well as reality shows such as "Nuestra Belleza Latina," news, "Noticiero Univision," and sports, "Republica Deportiva," which extensively covers soccer.

"We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship both with Univision and the large base of Hispanic customers who enjoy Univision's programming on DirecTV," said Derek Chang, executive vice president, content strategy and development, DirecTV.

Univision Communications is one of the top five TV networks in America regardless of language, and the No. 1 Spanish-language broadcast television network in the U.S.
