Walgreens says its sales for the second quarter of its fiscal year gained 7% to a record $16.5 billion, buoyed by prescription revenue. Comparable-store sales gained 1.2%. Profits fell 6.7% to $640
million.
Prescription sales--which accounted for 63% of sales in the quarter-- climbed 7.8%, while the number of retail prescriptions filled increased 4% over the same period a year
