NetFlix Debuts On Facebook Connect

  • March 25, 2009
Given the reliance on friends' recommendations for movies, NetFlix has taken the natural step of adopting Facebook Connect so people can share film reviews more widely. Netflix users can now post movie ratings to their Facebook profiles and see friends' reviews in their feeds.

Netflix said the move is part of a broader effort to expand access beyond its own site through vehicles like mobile apps and partnering with other sites so users can add movies to their Netflix queues from the NYTimes.com or RottenTomatoes.

Underscoring the popularity of movies on Facebook, social movie site Flixter had the second-fastest growing app on the social network in the last week, adding nearly 1.6 million users, according to AppData.--Mark Walsh
