Contact: Band Aid

FOB-Contact-Band AidThough it has quite a long way to go before rivaling Glastonbury and Coachella, this year's Media Battle of the Bands at New York City's B.B. King Blues Club delivered six nonstop hours of music. But unlike those other festivals, this event raised money for the nonprofit Citymeals-on-Wheels, which delivers meals to New York City's homebound elderly. Celebrating its 16th year, the Madison Avenue institution featured the amateur likes of Captain Delicious ("break out the mullets," boasts the band's bio), The Creamsicles ("full-on party style"), Paper Doll ("high-energy pop"), Men With Big Hips ("heavily blues-flavored") and The Unrehearsed ("classic rock and soul"). The bands, staffed by ad and cable pros from 13 companies, included Scripps Networks Interactive, Massive/Microsoft and Discovery Inc. (the lineup for The Unrehearsed, meanwhile, comprised of MTV Networks staff), wooed 600 industry execs to attend - and raised enough funds for 34,000 meals.
