That was the kind of banter that got things going during the
“Search As We See It†panel at the Search Insider Summit.
It began with Microsoft Director of Media Auctions Brian Boland quipping
that, in the past, he has often served on panels with Ron Belanger, who until recently joining Omniture, had been at Yahoo.
“So today,
I’d like to announce our intention to acquire Omniture,†Boland said, quickly adding, “For those of you who blogging or twittering, that’s a joke.â€
Yahoo VP-Advertiser & Agency Professional Services Daniel Boberg followed up on that joke with one of his one, telling the audience, “I forget to
mention that at Yahoo, we’re going to buy Microsoft.â€
The only one not in on the joke was John Nicoletti, head of agency operations
at Google, who didn’t make any jokes about Google acquiring anyone. Probably because they are actually serious about that. Stay tuned.
