Grunberg has teamed with technology pioneers August Trometer and Rick Yaeger to launch Yowza!!, a free application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that connects users to coupon specials being offered by restaurants and retailers in their locales.
Yowza!! is not a coupon aggregator, but instead works directly with retailers and restaurants to create deals available only through this service.
Users download Yowza!! from the Apple/iTunes App Store, view and select from among the touchscreen merchant deals offered, and redeem coupons at checkout by asking the cashier to scan the barcode directly from the device.
Grunberg promoted the new application at the recent National Restaurant Association show as an affordable, targeted and environmentally friendly (no paper coupons) marketing tool for local and national businesses.
According to a company
spokesperson, Yowza!! has so far signed nearly 100 retailers and restaurants, including Sears, McDonald's, Sports Authority, Finish Line, Dairy Queen, Islands Restaurants, The Container Store, Saks
Fifth Avenue, Traditional Jewelers, Marmalade Café, Paige Denim, Sherwin-Williams, ESPN Zone and Midway Car Rental. --Karlene Lukovitz
