Gap Inc. says it will give Old Navy a new look, in attempts to win back market share for the struggling brand. It will remodel some 50 stores in 2009, based on test results from two California
locations. It also says it will expand Piperlime, its online shoe and handbag site.
And at its flagship Gap division, the company plans to launch a new children's and baby line with
British designer Stella McCartney. The clothes, which will be sold in GapKids and BabyGap stores in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France and Ireland, and Japan, is expected to launch later this year.
In addition to her own line of women's clothing, shoes, bags, fragrances, eyewear, accessories sold in her stores, McCartney also has a skincare line and a sportswear partnership with
Adidas.--Sarah Mahoney
