PBS Faces Budget Gap, Cuts Staff By 10%

PBS has been hard-hit by the economy and faces a $3.4 million budget shortfall in its coming fiscal year, reports The New York Times. The network not only froze the dues it charges stations, but has reduced staff by 10%, or about 45 positions. PBS is also imposing a 3.85% pay cut beginning July 1 and lasting six months. PBS COO Michael D. Jones said that while personnel is affected by cutbacks, programming is not.
