YouTube on Thursday announced that it would now supporting Facebook Connect. The partnership would allow users who are signed into both services to publish and share videos they upload to YouTube
directly to Facebook. As AllFacebook's Nick O'Neill says, "it's interesting to see a Google owned company take advantage of Facebook Connect considering the company's investment in making their other
social standards more widespread."
Separately, online video provider Joost reported that since implementing Facebook Connect in December, the average Facebook user has watched 30% more
videos and has entered 15% more comments. "The message is clear," O'Neill says, "implementing Facebook Connect on your site, tends to increase engagement across the board. Every site that has
integrated with Connect has reported that overall activity has increased since launch."
It's unknown how many millions of users are using Facebook Connect, but O'Neill says it has to
be "well over" 5 million. Last month, Compete reported that Facebook Connect reached over 64 million users, but there's no way of knowing what percentage of those users were actually logged into the
service.
