What About The Early Adopters?

The consumer video mapping study panel ran out of time, so I didn’t get a chance to ask my question. Which is, what about the early adopters of online video.

The problem with the way the study’s findings were presented, is they were just big chunky averages. Yeah, so we know that, on average, people watch a lot more TV than online video. Duh!

What I want to know, is how the people who are really beginning to adopt it as a mainstream part of their media consumption, differ from the general population. And perhaps more importantly, what are they consuming less of, as a result. Like, maybe, TV? Just a hypothesis on my part. I don’t have access to the consumer video mapping study database, but I’d sure like to know.

Using a sample of one â€" my 16-year-old son in Fairfield, CT â€" I can tell you, he is not representative of the averages the panel showed and discussed. But he may just be an anomaly.
