Charlie Rutman, who held top posts at
agencies Carat and MPG, has joined the board of directors at an out-of-home company that operates a network in quick-service restaurants. Privately held, Dallas-based Indoor Direct received an
infusion of up to $22.5 million in venture capital this year.
As president of Carat USA, Rutman proved to be a force in winning new business, including Hyundai/Kia and the consolidated
Pfizer account. Then, as CEO of MPG North America, he helped land the Dannon and Sears businesses. Rutman had previously headed global planning for Coca-Cola at DMB&B.
Indoor Direct's theBITE
Network runs three- to-five-minute segments from a group of content providers, including CBS, MTV and the MLB Network. Advertisers run a banner alongside the clips.
The digital network on LCD
screens has a presence in Wendy's and Arby's locations, and plans to be in 300-plus Hardee's restaurants.
Fred Margolin, CEO of Indoor Direct, said Rutman's "experience with digital media and
the world's leading marketing companies will be invaluable."
Rutman moved to North American advisor at MPG at the end of 2008. He served as Carat USA president for seven years.
