Some Views On Views

Asked how they define a video “view,” the OMMA M&M video panelists more or less agreed with Tania Yuki’s definition from comScore:

“A video view, aka a stream, is basically a video that has been initiated in a player environment. At comScore, we discard anything that is 3-seconds or less,” she said, noting the three-second-plus rule is there to ensure that “auto plays” launched on a Web site don’t constitute a user’s viewing experience.

Even then, she noted, that a view doesn’t necessarily “equal a person. It just means a video was watched.”
