Univision COO Rodriquez Says Adios

Ray Rodriguez

Univision Communications said its 58-year-old president-COO Ray Rodriguez, who has helped guide CEO Joe Uva's transition into that job, will be retiring at the end of the year. He has been at the company for nearly 20 years.

Cesar Conde, 35, who has been executive vice president and chief strategy officer, will take the role of president of the Univision Networks. And Uva will take on the added title of president of Univision Communications.

Conde will start his new role Oct. 1 and will be based in Miami.

Rodriguez joined Univision in 1990 and has served in a number of roles, including senior vice president and operating manager of the Univision Network, and president of the three Univision networks.

"Ray has been an invaluable part of the Univision family, and I want to personally thank him for his many contributions to the company's success, as well as for his role in the popularization and proliferation of Hispanic media in this country," Uva said.

Rodriguez said Conde possessed "the industry knowledge, leadership abilities and creativity necessary to take Univision to the next level."
