HBO Picks Up Scorsese-Directed 'Boardwalk'

HBO has picked up 11 episodes, plus pilot, of the Martin Scorsese-directed 1920s era drama "Boardwalk Empire." It stars Steve Buscemi as the ruler of Atlantic City; his character is billed as "equal parts politician and gangster." The show is scheduled for a 2010 debut. Sopranos alum Terence Winter created the series and will executive produce along with Scorsese, Stephen Levinson, Mark Wahlberg and Tim Van Patten.
