AT&T: More Free TV Apps

AT&T/U-Verse Offers On Demand

AT&T is offering a measure of the interactive lead-generation advertising Canoe Ventures hopes to offer marketers nationally. Customers of its U-verse telco TV service will be able to enter a coupon code with a remote control, which will allow them to immediately watch a pay-per-view movie at a discount.

The application is billed as "Offers On Demand" and will be available to all U-Verse customers on Nov. 23 -- a number that was 1.8 million as of Oct. 1.

Customers can get a coupon code on channel 200, and then turn to 199 to redeem the offer. The offer codes will also be available in a monthly magazine for U-verse subscribers and on a Web site. And AT&T Wireless customers can receive codes via text message.

Other new services AT&T said it is offering on U-verse include on-screen caller ID. That program is launching in the Austin, Texas, market and available to U-verse customers who also have traditional phone service from AT&T.

Also rolling out is an opportunity for U-verse customers that subscribe to a pay package for ESPN basketball coverage to watch four games at once on a single channel.

Canoe Ventures, owned by six cable operators, aims to allow advertisers to run interactive campaigns with lead-generation opportunities in millions of homes.
