Spanish-language media company Univision Communications has launched a revamped mobile presence intended to more closely resemble its desktop Web site. The mobile site redesigned by Quattro
Wireless offers more customizable content across news, sports, entertainment and local information. Users can also personalize horoscopes, weather alerts and downloads, among other features.
Univision also expects that the enhanced content offerings will generate increased advertising opportunities, whether as part of an integrated campaign or as a stand-alone mobile effort. The company,
which operates the Univision and Telefutura cable networks, says the mobile site has more than one million monthly unique users.
The U.S. Hispanic population is among the fastest-growing segments
on the mobile Web. Nearly half of Hispanics who speak English have browsed the mobile Internet compared to only 28% of whites, according to a Pew Research Center poll earlier this year. --Mark
