HEADLINERS THIS WEEK:

JULIE KANTROWITZ will oversee the sale of cross-media packages to national advertisers at AOL Time Warner. She comes from Warner Bros. domestic television distribution, where she held the position of executive VP of media sales.

LORRI ROBBINS has been added to the sales force at Recommend magazine as national ad director. She had been senior account manager of Travel Holiday magazine in Florida and the Caribbean. Also at Recommend, HADLEY ROTH, who had been working at Bill Communications' Leisure Travel News, has been named West coast sales manager in Los Angeles. MITCH MORRIS joins Recommend as Southeast regional manager. He had been Florida sales manager at Travel Weekly.

BOB WEHLING is retiring from his role as global marketing and government relations officer at Procter & Gamble. JIM STENGEL, who currently serves as vice president of global strategic planning for baby care, will take over.

PHILLIP DIXON has been named managing editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer. He had been deputy managing editor.

RICK RESNICK has been promoted to director of marketing and sales development at Mutual Funds magazine after spending 18 months as sales development director. Also at Mutual Funds, JAY HOWARD has been promoted from advertising sales manager in the San Francisco office, to Northwest advertising director.

BILL KELLER has been named op-ed page columnist and senior writer for The New York Times Magazine. He had been managing editor of The New York Times.

COLLEEN WYSE has been named publisher of Women's Wear Daily. She had been associate publisher of W magazine.

SPENCER NEUMAN has been appointed executive vice president at ABC Television. He had been executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Walt Disney Internet Group.

TOM COSGROVE has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president for Fox Family Channel and Fox Kids Network. He's been with the companies since 1997.

JOHN HAYES is retiring at the end of the month after four years as the president and CEO of Raycom Media, which owns 36 TV stations and Raycom Sports. PAUL MCTEAR who has been vice president and chief financial officer since 1997 will take over for him.

RICHARD LAMBERT is leaving the Financial Times where he has been since 1966, spending the last ten years as editor in chief.

KEVIN SCHADE has been named Director of Sales and Marketing, North America of Cinnaroll's Baker Boys division. A Certified Food Broker, he has held a variety of sales, marketing and management positions with Tees & Persse Brokerage, Oppenheimer, Ramsey Brokerage, Canada Safeway and Shirra Sales.

MICHELLE PENNINGTON has been promoted to Media Director for DeVille O'Neill & Associates. Pennington recently obtained her certification from S.T.A.M.P. as a Certified Media Generalist.

BOB SCHMETTERER, Chairman and CEO of Euro RSCG Worldwide, will be a keynote speaker at the Global Online Advertising Forum in Cannes, France.

ROSA ALONSO has been appointed to the position of Eastern Advertising Sales Director at People en Español, based in New York and reporting to Associate Publisher, Peter Krieger. Most recently, she served as VP, Marketing and Sales for LATINO.COM. CLAUDETTE MENDOZA also joins People en Español as Ad Sales Manager, based in Miami and reporting to Alonso. Prior to joining, Ms. Mendoza served as an Account Executive at CBS/KTVT-Channel 11 in Dallas.

KELLY KAHL has been promoted to executive vice president of program planning and scheduling at CBS Television. She's been senior vice president since August 1998.

SARAH GRAY MILLER has been named the new editor of Organic Style. She had been the features editor of Garden Design.

BRIAN DUFFY has been named editor of U.S. News & World Report. He takes over for STEPHEN SMITH, who will take over as editorial director and will stay on as a consultant. Duffy most recently served as executive editor.

MICHAEL WILLNER has been elected the new chairman of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association board. He is currently the president of Insight Communications. JERALD KENT, the president and CEO of Charter Communications, was elected NCTA vice chairman. The chairman of Adelphia Communications, JOHN RIGAS, was named the board secretary. Comcast Corp. president BRIAN ROBERTS will be the association's treasurer.

CBS News vice presidents MARCY MCGINNIS, JOHN FRAZEE and BETSY WEST have been promoted to senior vice presidents of CBS News. McGinnis is now in charge of news coverage, Frazee of news services and West of primetime.

BETTY COHEN will leave her post as president of Cartoon Network Worldwide, effective July 16, but will stay within the AOL Time Warner/Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) family.

KIM ROSENBLUM has been named Vice President, TV Land Brand Creative Group. Prior to becoming a TV Land executive, Rosenblum held several related creative positions on all three Nick network brands: Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite and TV Land.
