Apple Gets Quattro, Mobile Ad Co.

Apple Inc has acquired Quattro Wireless in order to ramp up its prowess in the mobile advertising arena. No purchase price was quoted, but analysts pet it as around $275 million, per All Things Digital. The deal heightens the rivalry between Apple and Google.

While Apple's iPhone has been a huge hit, Google's Android platform is also gaining plenty of traction in the smartphone market. Google is expected to unveil its own smartphone -- the Nexus One. Quattro is also a competitor to AdMob, which Google agreed to acquire in November for $750 million.
