Appolicious has acquired rival mobile app information site AppVee.com, and offshoot AndroidApps.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the deal, the three sites will continue to operate as
separate properties.
Appolicious founder and CEO Alan Warms said the deal would help expand the startup's audience, especially with Android users. AppVee also brings a strong library of 1,100
video reviews to complement the written reviews and social networking features on Appolicious.
"We like the content and fan base AppVee offers, and the fact that their service works so well on
the web as well as the iPhone itself, and quickly determined that an acquisition made sense," Appolicious founder and CEO Alan Warms, in a statement. Appvee founder and CEO Alex Ahlund said combining
its professional reviews with Appolicious' social recommendation service would give consumers a one-stop-shop for mobile apps. He will serve as an advisor to Appolicious following the deal.
Launched last September, Appolicious has raised about $2 million to date from investors including Apex Venture Partners. --Mark Walsh
