Tribune Company was already in trouble with its failing newspaper operations when Wilson took over as president of Tribune Broadcasting in February 2008. Then the fall 2008 brought on a crushing recession that hit Tribune's TV station operations as well.

Last year Wilson added new responsibilities as chief revenue and sales officer of The Tribune Co. Tribune remains in Chapter 11; Wilson will continue as a consultant.

Before Tribune, Wilson had senior executives roles at Fox Broadcasting Co., and two syndication TV posts -- NBC Enterprises and CBS Enterprises.
