A TV miniseries about everybody's favorite daypart – complete with late night
heroes and villains – is about to get more exploration, this according to Deadline.com.
This one is how Johnny Carson ascended to “The Tonight
Show� throne, replacing then host Jack Parr. The working title: “The King of Late Night�, is based on a 1980 book “The
Tonight Show,� written by Robert Metz. The show is intended to be built around a Rat Pack-meets-“Mad Men� 60s-theme.
In the mid-90s,
HBO produced the movie, “The Late Shift�, a film about the shake up around Johnny Carson's departure and the subsequent adventures of Jay Leno and David Letterman
– as well as a then newcomer to the always-interesting daypart, Conan O'Brien.
