Every minute counts in today's changing economy, and being on the road is no excuse for being uninformed. Consumers want the ability to monitor the performance of their stock portfolio, check how the
overall markets are doing and stay updated on financial news. They also prefer to be entertained, even when doing mundane activities.
Soon retail gasoline customers will be both informed and
entertained, thanks to an agreement between PointMedia and Bloomberg Television.
PointMedia Corp. is preparing to make news, entertainment, online product purchasing and point-of-purchase
promotional incentives available to consumers at gas pumps. Bloomberg, a leading financial information and media company, will supply financial content for PointTV(TM), PointMedia's interactive
broadcast network with color monitors adjacent to gas pumps offering customers a fun and easy way to add value to their time spent fueling up.
Content including stock quotes, Bloomberg's "Midday
Report" and the "After the Bell" report at the close of daily trading will be available to consumers as they fill their tanks. Audio and video from Bloomberg will be downloaded to the PointTV network
through private satellite channels, with stock quotes, market indices and Bloomberg's ticker-like headline news constantly updated at the pump to reflect changing market information.
Bloomberg’s
David Wachtel said, "PointTV's interactive capabilities make it possible for investors to personalize the Bloomberg information they receive on their individual stocks as well as to view our daily
programming when they stop to fill up their vehicle. Bloomberg's flow of financial data, delivered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is perfect content for PointTV customers who are stopping at gas
stations at all hours of the day and want to be updated on current market conditions. It's imperative that financial information be available wherever and whenever investors need it, and PointTV
offers a convenient new venue from which to receive Bloomberg reports."
Retail gasoline customers will have their first chance to check out Bloomberg's financial news coverage in October, when
PointTV is scheduled to go live in a limited market test program.
