(Reverse) Osmosis From Hyundai To GM: Chris Perry To Chevy

Joel Ewanick has done it again. Faster than a speeding Corvette, GM's head of North American marketing has pulled another exec from Hyundai – the one who actually replaced him as VP marketing at the Fountain Valley automaker. Chris Perry, who replaced Ewanick at Hyundai Motor America as Veep marketing is now at the General, where he has filled the top marketing spot at Chevy. I mean Chevrolet. The company says Perry, effective immediately, replaces Jim Campbell, who is heading over to GM's performance division, where he will be VP Performance Vehicles, and Motorsports. Ewanick recently also tapped Liz Boone, former group account director at Hyundai's agency Innocean Worldwide Americas to be his right hand at GM, helping him to keep the four auto brands in – in Ewanick's words – their respective "swim lanes." Said Ewanick in a release, "I have worked with Chris in the past and know he will use his unique ability to integrate strategic and creative marketing activities across all communications disciplines to reconnect consumers to the Chevrolet brand." Perry joined Hyundai in 2000 as the head of brand planning. Prior to joining Hyundai, Perry spent nearly 10 years at American Isuzu Motors, where he held a variety of marketing and advertising positions. Campbell will report to Mark Reuss, president, GM North America, and Tom Stephens, vice chairman, Global Product Operations. Perry will report to Ewanick.
