CBS Interactive on Monday named Mary Hentges as its new chief financial officer and executive vice president. Hentges comes to CBS Interactive after spending over seven years as the VP of finance and chief financial officer for PayPal.
Effective immediately, Hentges replaces Zander Lurie as CFO of CBS Interactive, a position Lurie held until April 2010 when he shifted to his current role as senior vice president, Strategic Development for parent company CBS Corporation.
Citing CBS' existing roster of online brands, Hentges said of the unit's prospects: "I'm confident we can grow."
Joseph Ianniello, EVP and chief financial officer at CBS Corporation, said the appointment was not a decision made lightly. Now more than ever, said Ianniello, "Continued success at CBS Interactive is a key part of the company's future."
In May, CBS Interactive said display ad revenues were a very respectable 19%. Sports and technology segments remain the two biggest revenue drivers for the unit, which faces stiff competition across all content verticals.
At PayPal, Hentges led a team that oversaw accounting, billing, financial planning and analysis, strategy, enterprise risk management, tax, treasury and internal audits. Prior to PayPal, Hentges worked in a number of finance roles for Agilent Technologies and Hewlett-Packard. She helped lead all financial aspects of the separation and IPO of Agilent from its parent company, Hewlett-Packard.
