NPD: iPad Not Cutting Into PC Sales

  • October 5, 2010
IPad buyers aren't displaying the same buying and ownership patterns of typical consumer electronics purchasers.

According to The NPD Group's iPad Owner Survey, only 13% of iPad owners bought an iPad tablet instead of a personal computer. However, nearly a quarter purchased an iPad rather than a planned e-reader.

IPad owners are also significantly more likely to own other Apple computers, with 48% already owning a Mac desktop or notebook. iPhone ownership also closely corresponded to iPad purchases, according to NPD.--Aaron Baar
