Fox O&Os To Carry 'Modern Family'

Modern Family

After USA grabbed cable syndication rights to "Modern Family," 10 Fox-owned stations have a deal to begin airing episodes at the same time, the fall of 2013.

The agreement marks a straight deal for News Corp. as it owns the 10 stations; the distributor, Twentieth Television; and the studio, Twentieth Century Fox Television.

The Emmy-winning ABC comedy will air on the Fox stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and seven other markets, but not sibling stations in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston.

Paul Franklin, who heads sales at syndicator Twentieth Television, said he's "confident that viewer devotion to this hilarious and poignant portrayal of the modern American family will only continue to elevate."

"Modern Family" is in its second season on ABC and, according to Twentieth, it is the No. 1 sitcom in prime time among adults 18-49, averaging 12.6 million total viewers each week.
