Gene Brown Leaves Suzuki

  • November 2, 2010
Gene Brown, VP marketing and PR for the automotive division of American Suzuki Motor Corporation, has resigned the Brea, Calif. automaker. The company's new director of PR and communications, Jeff Holland, says Brown left to pursue other opportunities. Brown was at Suzuki, a company he joined when former employer Nissan pulled up Southern California stakes and moved to Tennessee, for about four and a half years.

Holland says that instead of replacing Brown with one person the company "Has decided to flatten out the organizational structure." Thus, Steve Younan, former head of product planning and sales training will be director of marketing, with Holland, as mentioned, becoming director PR and communications.

Brown leaves Suzuki after a much needed upswing. The company saw a 17% increase in sales last month, the first increase in 27 months.
