Ford is letting people come up with the name for the performance package for a version of its Mustang that has a V6 performance package.
The company said people can submit their ideas for
the best name for the package -- the name should appeal to race and sports car fans -- on Facebook through mid-December. The winner gets a two-year lease on the 2012 Ford Mustang with the performance
package.
Ford says the Mustang Facebook page has more than 940,000 fans. A gallery on the page will let visitors see all of the choices that people suggest, and also let people vote on the
choices. After the five most-voted names have been selected, Ford will choose the winner.
Brian McClary, Ford social and emerging media specialist, said: "It's a nontraditional approach to
naming a piece of brand that millions of people identify with."
The company is letting people who go to the Los Angeles Auto Show submit their ideas at the Ford stand.
