IAB Reorganizes Around Major Public Policy Push

In a major public policy push, the Interactive Advertising Bureau this morning announced a reorganization and has created an Office of General Counsel. As part of the move, Mike Zaneis was promoted to senior vice president-general counsel from vice president-public policy to lead the effort.

Zaneis already was the IAB's primary face to regulators and the industry on public policy issues, and has been overseeing the industry's self-regulation efforts to stem the tide of public interest groups calling for government regulation of some controversial online advertising practices, especially ones that relate to consumer privacy.

As part of the reorganization, the IAB named two of its staffers to new positions.

Patrick Dolan, formerly executive vice president-chief administrative officer, was named executive vice president-COO; and David Doty, formerly senior vice president-marketing & thought leadership, was named senior vice president-CMO.

"Public policy has taken center stage as one of the most critical issues facing the digital marketing industry, and no one is better equipped to represent the IAB and our members than Mike," IAB President-CEO Randall Rothenberg said in a statement. "At the same time, Patrick and David have helped fashion the pivotal role IAB now plays in the industry. Their leadership will help guide us through 2011 and beyond. These appointments are another step we're taking to strengthen our management team as we meet the challenges and opportunities of the continuously evolving digital marketing landscape."
