VentureBeat is just as sure in its belief that Google's search results "suck," as it is that the tech giant is doing something about it.
"The folks at Google have not been asleep at the wheel," it writes. "They are well aware that their search results were being increasingly gamed by search marketers and that this was not a battle they
were going to win." But, what has Google been doing about it?
"Over the past couple of years, Google has progressively added vertical search results above its regular results." Now, when
users search for the weather, businesses, stock quotes, popular videos, music, and more, the search results of what they're looking for are presented immediately with such results. In other words,
"The vast majority of users are no longer clicking through pages of Google results," according to VentureBeat. As a result, "Google's search value proposition has now transitioned to immediately
answering your question, with the option of sifting through additional results." Hot on its trail, however, is Facebook, which can rank content based on the number of "Likes" from real people in real
time. "A Like is registered immediately," VentureBeat notes. "No wonder Facebook scares Google."
