That's the way Mobile Insider columnist and summit chair Steve Smith said to kick things off here in
Key Biscayne, FL, the second mobile summit hosted by MediaPost.
"The last time we did this, we programmed looking forward, what was coming next,, what would mobile look like n 2011," Smith
told attendees in his introductory remarks. "This time we're looking at it as a status report. It's time to take stock rather than simply look forward."
He then gave some stats to set the
discussion up, citing Cisco's recent mobile data traffic report, noting that it "literally doubled" in the last year, and is on track to grow at a 92% compound annual rate over the next four years.
"That's massive, and at some point we will see the center of gravity shift toward mobile and away from the Web," Smith reiterated.
