Audi Puts Kenny G. In Stir

Luxury prison. Yes, it exists and believe me they don't put you in with the skinheads. Audi will be talking up the luxury prison motif today during the Super Bowl, which I have no intention of watching, by the way. (I'm heading to a non-sports bar, if such things still exist).

The automaker manages, in this ad ( which I'm assuming will be elaborated upon during the game) to also make fun of smooth jazz, and Kenny G's competitive set within the genre (there's a moment when he says a certain flugelhorn player couldn't cut it, though the name Mangione was not mentioned).

The ad has Kenny putting rich guys in jail to sleep with his somnolent soprano sax stylings. And it also manages to make fun of those ridiculous direct marketing TV ads for best-of albums. His, which he says "went platinum...inside the prison" is called "Prison Sax." And as is par for the course with teasers (I saw the ad online) there's no mention or visuals of, nor reference to Audi.

And there's a second teaser ad for the campaign that parodies "scared straight" programs in which hardened criminals bring young miscreants to jail for a day. This one, though, is called "Scared Startled" and in it old-luxury fossils scare young trust-fund preppies into rethinking their overuse of poloshirts, deck shoes, and croquet mallets.
