Under Armour Signs Deal With MLB

Sports-apparel companyUnder Armour, Inc. has expanded its program with baseball. The Baltimore company has signed a deal with Major League Baseball that makes it the official performance footwear supplier of the league for the upcoming 2011 season. This spring the Baltimore-based company will release new cleats called UA Heater and UA Natural.

The multi-year agreement gives Under Armour the worldwide rights to produce and distribute the official "silhouetted batter" MLB logo on its MLB Authentic Collection baseball cleats, according to a release from the two companies.

Under Armour can also put the MLB logo and MLB Club marks at retail, and in digital, and print advertising for baseball footwear. Under Armour also gets an attraction at MLB All-Star FanFest beginning this summer in Phoenix and throughout the term of the contract.

Under Armour sponsors World Series Champion and 2010 National League Rookie of the Year Buster Posey, Jonathon Papelbon, Ryan Zimmerman, Matt Wieters, Jose Reyes, and Nick Markakis. The players wear Under Armour gear.
