Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has named Brian Povinelli to be global brand leader for Westin Hotels & Resorts. Povinelli has spent the last five years at Starwood in senior
marketing roles, most recently as VP, brand management for the company's North America division, where he oversaw marketing, advertising, brand management and strategic positioning for Starwood's two
largest and most global brands, Westin and Sheraton, per the company.
Povinelli, who will report to Phil McAveety, Starwood's chief brand officer, replaces Nancy London, who is leaving the
company after ten years to join fashion venture, "Style for Hire," which her sister, TV personality and stylist Stacy London co-founded. London will oversee marketing and public
relations. Povinelli will oversee strategy for Starwood's portfolio of over 170 hotels around the world. The company says he will lead the development and execution of the Westin brand's
global marketing strategy, guest experience, standards and communications programs and development opportunities.
His first job at Starwood was leading global marketing efforts for the
Sheraton brand as part of its $6 billion revitalization efforts. Before Starwood, Povinelli was VP, global integrated marketing at Reebok.
