Customary as it is to revisit the last 12 months at the end of each December, at this time year I remember writing that I had no desire to look back at 2001. It was a really bad year for online
advertising. I also remember writing, “Just wait. This year will be better. It simply has to be.”
Please allow me a very relieved and happy “I told you so!”
Also allow me to dust off my crystal
ball and make a similar prediction for the year 2003. I won’t say that the worst is behind us (for fear of jinxing anything), but I will say that I’m really looking forward to the future. And thanks
to the industry’s collective refusal to give up, we actually have a future.
And on that happy note, I'd like to send my best wishes to you and yours for the upcoming holidays.
I’m taking a
break until next Friday, Jan. 3, to return ready for whatever trials and tribulations await this industry, so on behalf of all of us at MediaPost, I wish you a very happy holiday season and the very
best of the everything for 2003!
