One of the tenets of the Chicago City Limits school of theatre improv is that performers shouldn't say "no" or the game ends. One always has to say "yes, and..." While a lot of marketers have probably
saved their companies embarrassment by saying "no" at various times, there's something to be said for the power of "yes and" to keep collaborations alive. Thus, the The American Marketing
Association (AMA) is employing Chicago City Limits (CCL) in to run a training session for AMA members and others at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York on the evening of May 19.
The
two-hour session with the group's directors and performers is part of a program the CCL developed to get business people to listen to each other, get uninhibited (to some extent) , loosen up, think on
their feet and be creative. Participants, in other words, get to play games. While most will leave feeling more in touch with their inner Steve Martin, a chosen few will decide to go into show
biz. Or perhaps join the Navy SEALs.
CCL has been doing this program for the likes of American Express, Credit Suisse and Pfizer, while still performing their regular shows each week at the
Broadway Comedy Club. Let's see Team Six try that!
There are limited spots available, so if you are feeling up to it you can reserve at http://nyama.org.
