At Facebook's f8 conference in San Francisco today, CEO Mark Zuckerberg began by rolling out the next version of the Facebook profile focused on a new feature dubbed Timeline that lets users show a
chronology of their life via photos, apps and posts going back as far as birth.
"It's the heart of your Facebook experience, completely rethought from the ground up," said Zuckerberg, adding
that the company has been working on it all year. "Timeline is the story of your life." The idea is to beyond what's happened in a user's life in the last five minutes or last week by creating
something more like a dynamic photo album. In fact, it features a large cover photo that a user can change up similar to a screen saver.
"As you scroll down past your cover, you'll see your
posts, photos and life events as they happened in time. You choose what's featured on your timeline. You can star your favorites to double their size or hide things altogether," states a Facebook blog post today introducing Timeline.
