Weird References By Sarah Jessica Parker

At Tuesday morning's NBCU Power of the Purse event actress Sarah Jessica Parker was the star du jour who was interviewed by Andy Cohen I think his name is. She was introduced with almost exuberant adoration by one of the network's marketing execs, who apotheosized her as a woman who does it all: mom, marketer, philanthropist, actor, artist. "I don't know how she does it."

I do. It's called the Help. To me the woman "who does it all" is a single mom has to raise kids on her job as a nurse's aid without completely losing her mind, and without a Ferragamo bag.

I like SJP, but her insights into motherhood don't matter in the scheme of things. Yes I realize Sex and the City is NBC's property and it makes sense to bring someone like that up to entertain the folks, but her insight is irrelevant and actually in contradistinction to the research NBCU did, which is actually very interesting. She matters to makers of very high end products, purveyors of trips to the Encantatas, and administers of private academies in Kent, Ct.

The most entertaining moment was when Parker noted that she enjoys early 20th century literature about women, like "Bleak House." Okaaaay. Not the one by Dickens. I think she meant "House of Mirth," but anyway.
