The Consumer Electronics Association has launched a Web site dedicated to helping people find environmentally friendly gadgets and disposal options.
The site, www.greenergadgets.org, features an energy use calculator to help consumers understand their usage rates, as well as an electronics recycling locator to help
them find the closest option when it comes to disposing of electronics equipment, which can be harmful to the environment.
"We created GreenerGadgets.org so that consumers can understand how better to use their electronics products in eco-friendly ways," said Walter Alcorn, vice president of environmental affairs
and industry sustainability, CEA, in a statement. "Many of the products on the market today are much more energy-efficient than their predecessors, and consumers need to be able to calculate their
energy costs. Further, consumers need to know where to take their older products when they are ready to dispose of them. GreenerGadgets.org will provide these
answers and more."
