A Swiss fair trade organization is asking people to write to George Clooney to get him to pressure Nestle to use only fair trade
coffee in its brands. That's because, in Europe, Clooney has for years been the face of the company's instant coffee brand, Nespresso.
The organization has an ad out starring a lookalike of
the “Ides of March”star directing consumers to Solidar.ch, where they can urge Clooney to get Nestle to use only Fair Trade coffee. The ad has him getting beaned in the head and
the privates by the Nespresso sign, with the message that, "Sorry, George, this is how it feels to be exploited as a coffee picker."
This story also includes a video gallery of Clooney’s
Europe-market ads (like a lot of American movie stars, he appears in tons of ads across the pond but none here), including one for a Norwegian bank where a woman wakes up to find that, remarkably, she
is engaged to Clooney. The message is that not everyone can be that lucky.
