As cable operators try to increase their multicultural programming, Time Warner Cable has added more than three dozen Spanish-language and
international networks to its iPad live streaming app.
The country's second-largest cable operator said customers paying for networks from CNN Español to Disney XD Espanol (and 35
others) will be able to watch simulcasts of them at home on the tablets.
There are five Spanish-language networks already on the app, including Galavision and Gol TV.
TWC customers who
receive the Hispanic-targeted El Paquetazo packages in states like New York and Texas will be able to use the app.
TWC, which has said the app has had at least 1.5 downloads since its March 15
launch, is also turning to the iPad for other functionality such as the device serving as a remote control and an interface for programming a DVR.

Among the dozens of networks available on the
app are CNN and Disney XD as well as the Discovery Channel, History and FX.
Not available are Viacom networks, as TWC and Viacom are locked in a legal battle on the matter.
There has
been considerable activity in the Spanish-language media space recently, with Telemundo grabbing rights to the World Cup after 2014 and Univision relaunching its Web site.
