Barnes & Noble is getting into the tablet business.
The creator and seller of the Nook e-reading devices on Monday introduced the Nook Tablet, a device offering access to movies, TV
shows and music through services including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora and others, as well as apps and e-mail capabilities.
Priced at $249, the Nook tablet will be available online and
in-stores on Nov. 17, just in time for the holiday season. In addition, the company has reduced the price on its Nook Color device to $199, and its Nook Simple Touch to $99.
“These three
products, at these super-low prices, represent the highest-quality portfolio of reading and entertainment products on the market at the best value,” said B&N chief executive William Lynch in
a statement.
