Zaw Thet Steps Down As 4INFO CEO

Ex-Apple executive Tim Jenkins has been named CEO of mobile ad company 4INFO, replacing founder Zaw Thet in that role. Thet has taken the title of “Chief Evangelist” at the company. Prior to joining 4INFO as COO in September, Jenkins was CFO at Solera Networks, a network security firm.

He has also served in various C-level positions at companies including ONStor Inc. E2open, Simpata (where he was CEO from 2000 to 2003) and Creative Wonders. Jenkins was at Apple from 1989 to 1995, where he was European finance manager, education division controller, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The new CEO told paidContent, which broke the news, that the reason for the management change was to help the company accelerate its growth through partnerships and international expansion. The company last month secured an additional $14 million in venture funding from investors led by Paul G. Allen’s Vulcan Capital, Mitsui Global Investment and including prior investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Gannett, and Mezzanine Capital.

That brought 4INFO’s total raised to date to $52 million. The company has lately been focused on building out its AdHaven mobile audience platform as it expands beyond its traditional focus on SMS text advertising. AdHaven allows marketers to run targeted ad campaigns across the mobile Web, mobile rich media and video, applications and tablets.

Update: 4INFO confirmed the executive change in a press release this afternoon. It states in part: "Beginning immediately, Tim Jenkins, a Silicon Valley veteran, will assume the role of CEO. Tim’s track record includes several successful high growth stories with companies such as KPMG, Stratacom and Apple Computer as well as several start-ups spanning a multitude of industries from wireless to supply chain SaaS platforms."

The company said the move would also allow Thet to spend more time with his non-profit (Palindrome Advisors) and other philanthropic organizations while working with Jenkins to insure a smooth transition.
