Ziff Davis Reports Increase

The Ziff Davis Media Game Group is reporting a 22% increase in overall advertising pages rising from 3,091 in 2001 to 3,774 in 2002, according to Adscope, a division of Competitive Media Reporting. For Electronic Gaming Monthly, covering gaming on the Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Game Boy Advance video game console systems, ad pages jumped 29% from 1,079 pages in 2001 to 1,388 pages in 2002. Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine (OPM), the leading voice on PlayStation games and the lifestyle that embodies them, climbed 18% in ad pages, up from 753 pages in 2001 to 892 pages in 2002. GameNOW magazine, launched last year targeted towards the ten million gamers in the under seventeen-age group, continued its growth pattern with ad pagesup from 325 pages in 2001 to 419 ad pages in 2002. Computer Gaming World also grew advertising revenue in 2002 from 2001 and Xbox Nation has just increased its frequency from quarterly to bi-monthly. In January Ziff Davis launched GMR, a monthly video and PC game publication distributed by Electronics Boutique. Within the first five weeks, it has sold over 100,000 subscriptions.
