Walt Disney Co. and Univision Communications Inc. are in talks to create a new 24-hour cable-news channel that will broadcast in English to Latinos, reports The Wall Street Journal. The goal is
to reach a new audience of English speakers, given the changing demographics of U.S. Hispanics. The new channel would position Disney's ABC News more directly into the cable-news wars, competing
alongside Time Warner Inc's CNN, News Corp.'s Fox News and Comcast Corp.'s MSNBC. The move comes in response to the 2010 census, which showed U.S. born Latinos made up nearly 60% of the growth in
the nation's Hispanic population over the last decade.
