Coming To A Theater Near You: Cinema's Upfront Ad Pitch

NCM Media Networks, one of the two big players (the other is Screenvision) in U.S. cinema advertising marketplace just announced its first official upfront sales presentation, which not so coincidentally will take place in one of its own venues: the AMC Lowes Lincoln Square movie theater in New York City on May 16.

That makes eminent sense, but as long as it’s taking place on the big screen – you know, the silver one – why not roll it out nationwide? I’m guessing that given NCM’s digital distribution capabilities, and the number of theaters it represents across the U.S., it could probably simultaneously stage its upfront in other key media-buying markets. You know, make the medium the message?

Especially when you consider part of the draw behind NCM’s upfront teaser pitch, which will feature: “a sneak peek at the upcoming Hollywood 2-D and 3-D film slate and the unique ways that marketers can reach movie-going audiences. “

By the way, lunch will be served too, and I’m going to guess it won’t only be popcorn and a slushie.
