A Nielsen spokesperson took issue with Online Media Daily’s coverage of its announcement of a deal with Unilever to use its Nielsen Online Campaign Ratings service, which reported that
Unilever was its first paying customer. The spokesperson said online video ad technology company Tremor Video is also paying for the service, and that at least one other undisclosed advertiser is as
well. In recent calls with securities analysts and investors, Nielsen executives have repeatedly said that they were offering data from the NCOR service to big marketers for free in hopes of
convincing them to utilize it as a currency for online advertising campaigns. No other paying advertisers have been disclosed to date. “We cannot disclose the other paid clients at this
time,” the spokesperson said.
