Parental Guidance Neglected: More Than Half Of Adults Aware Of Children Under 13 With Facebook Accounts

Even though Facebook's minimum age for registering a user is 13, more than half of parents responding to an online poll said they had children under 13 with a Facebook account. Fifty-five percent of 1,000 adult respondents to the SodaHead poll cited children 12-years or younger as having a Facebook account, while 19% cited children 10-years or younger.

While 34% of all respondents said they believe that 13 is an appropriate age, 48% said Facebook users should be older than 13. Twenty-nine percent think Facebook users should be between 14 – 17, while 19% said they should be 18 or older.
