So Why Wisconsin? (Fadner Sings Its Praises)

Other than the fact that there are some great brands located in the state, including Kohler, which happens to be the location of the American Club – site of this week’s Brand Marketers Summit – why did MediaPost pick it as a location. Partly because of Camp Anokijig. What’s that? You haven’t heard of Camp Anokijig, well it played an important role in the development of a young Ken Fadner, the founder and chairman of MediaPost, and the guy who gets to decide where our summits take place.

While on a recent visit to his home state (Fadner was born in Oshkosh, about 50 miles west of Kohler), Fadner had the opportunity to visit his old childhood summer camp, Anokijig, and discovered it hadn’t changed a bit – weeds clogging the waterfront and all.

“I resolved at that time that we were going to bring a summit to Wisconsin,” Fadner told summit attendees this morning.

Among other reasons, he said was the fact that the American Club is one of the world’s premiere golf resorts. In fact, the Ladies Professional Golf Association will hold its U.S. Open on the same courses we’ll be playing here this week.

Finally, Fadner offered to sing the Camp Anokijig song, which after a rousing applause, demurred and said, “Maybe over cocktails.”
